A Note to Parents...

"Two Sculptors"

I dreamed I saw a studio

And watched two sculptors there.

The clay they used was a child’s mind

And they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher-the tools he used

Were books, music, and art.

The other, a parent, worked with a guiding hand,

And a gentle, loving heart.

Day after day, the teacher toiled with a touch,

That was careful and sure,

While the parent labored by his side

And polished and smoothed it o’er.

And when at last, their task was done,

They were proud of what they had wrought.

For the things they had molded into the child.

Could neither be sold nor bought.

And each agreed they would have failed

If either had worked alone.

For behind the parents stood the school

And behind the teacher, the home.

Stay-Tuned: Student planner Monday-Friday pages are linked above & will help keep you up with important happenings in the classroom.  Student Day by Day Planner

Monday Folders: Each Monday students take home their Monday folder. This folder needs to be returned by Friday, but preferably the following day. The folder will contain important Laurel Mountain Elementary information, field trip permission forms, materials that need a parent signature and more. I will also send home progress reports or make phone calls if I feel that your child is not progressing as expected.

Birthday Snacks: Birthday snacks are not permitted this year due to high student food allergies in our building.

Tardy: Students will be considered tardy if they arrive later than 7:40.  Being prompt is expected of fourth graders and arriving on time gives the child a sense of preparedness for the day.

Absences: If your child is absent, you will need to contact the office at 512-464-4300. If you would like to pick up homework, let the office know when you call in. I will do my best to have it ready by the end of the day but would prefer at least a days notice to gather materials. Most assignments will be found under 'Planner' on this website if you look under the day of the week your son/daughter was missing. Students will be allowed one extra day to complete assignments for each day they are absent, although lessons cannot be made up; therefore, it is essential that students are here everyday, if possible.

Ask Questions: If you have any concerns or are wondering why something is happening, please feel free to call me any time. You can reach me at school at 512-464-4334, and I can also be contacted by email at wynn_holzinger@roundrockisd.org. I check my email multiple times a day. I welcome all concerns, ideas, and feedback that affect your child’s well-being or our classroom. If something is not working I am more than willing to talk.
